Pool Therapist, Youth Crisis

About the role

The CSU Pool Therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy to children/youth admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). The CSU uses an interdisciplinary team to deliver brief, 3-5 day crisis stabilization for children and youth with behavioral health issues, including depression, suicidal thoughts, trauma reactions, and family issues. Our goal is to coordinate treatment and provide tools and safety planning so children/youth and families can safely return to their homes and community.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical interviews and develop treatment plans for each assigned child/youth.
• Maintain caseload as assigned, overseeing implementation and review of all treatment services.
• Serve as primary coordinator for discharge planning and transition of care to community resources.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy; co-facilitate multi-family groups with other therapists.
• Maximize medically authorized services in accordance with the treatment plan.
• Coordinate with case managers, referring agencies, funding sources, families, legal systems, and other professionals involved in the child/youth’s treatment.
• Maintain timely documentation, including admission notes, progress notes, discharge paperwork, and treatment plans.
• Operate within the scope of your license and comply with all relevant regulations.
• Conduct regular utilization reviews to meet licensing requirements for residential treatment of adolescent populations.
• Facilitate transitions to the next level of care in collaboration with the treatment team, receiving agencies, and families.
• Attend staffings/rounds to facilitate communication and effective client management.
• Participate in mandatory trainings to maintain compliance and ensure effective treatment.
• Consult with milieu staff on clinical issues, monitor delivery of clinical services, and assist in training needs.
• Represent the program professionally in communications with referral sources and other external parties.
• Maintain open communication with the treatment team, Program Coordinator, and Manager.
• Refrain from dual relationships with residents and families to maintain professional boundaries.
• Create and maintain a culturally and socioeconomically sensitive environment for children/youth.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Program Coordinator.

Requirements

• Conferred Master’s degree (from an accredited University/College) in mental health or a related field.
• Clinical license preferred (Licensed Psychologist, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT).
• Experience working with children and youth with mental health issues and their families.
• Skills in family therapy interventions, crisis interventions, culturally sensitive interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other applicable treatment modalities.
• Understanding of trauma effects on individuals admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit.
• Expertise in child development, attachment issues, trauma treatment, abuse/neglect, and foster/adoptive family issues.
• Knowledge of stages of change and motivational interviewing.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Word minimum) for EHR and report writing.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Pay

Salary Grade 51 (Master’s Unlicensed Clinician): $36.00/hr to $46.00/hr based on shift.

Salary Grade 52 (Licensed Clinician LCSW, LMFT, LPC): $41.00/hr to $51.00/hr based on shift.
