Part Time Therapist, Youth Crisis

About the role

The Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) Therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy to children/youth admitted to the CSU. Responsibilities include conducting initial assessments, directing clinical services, and assisting with case management and disposition planning. This is a part-time weekend position, with a Saturday & Sunday schedule.

The mission of Jefferson Center's Children's CSU is to provide brief, 3-5 day crisis stabilization treatment for children and youth with behavioral health issues, including depression, suicidal thoughts, trauma reactions, and family issues. Our interdisciplinary team coordinates treatment and safety planning to help children/youth safely return to their homes and community.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical interviews and develop treatment plans for each child/youth.
• Maintain assigned caseload, overseeing implementation and review of treatment services.
• Serve as primary coordinator for discharge planning and transition of care to community resources.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy; co-facilitate multi-family groups.
• Maximize medically authorized services in accordance with treatment plans.
• Coordinate with case managers, referring agencies, funding sources, community contacts, family, legal systems, and other professionals involved in treatment.
• Maintain timely documentation, including admission notes, progress notes, discharge paperwork, and treatment plans.
• Operate within the scope of respective license and comply with all regulations.
• Comply with managed care standards for regular utilization review of assigned cases.
• Facilitate transitions to the next level of care in conjunction with the treatment team, receiving agency, and family.
• Attend staffings/rounds to facilitate communication and effective client management.
• Attend mandatory trainings to maintain compliance and ensure effective treatment.
• Consult with milieu staff regarding clinical issues and monitor delivery of clinical services on the unit.
• Represent the program in communications with referral sources and other professionals with diplomacy and professionalism.
• Maintain good communication with treatment team members, Program Coordinator, and Manager.
• Refrain from dual relationships with residents and families to maintain professional boundaries.
• Maintain a culturally and socioeconomically sensitive environment for children/youth.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-functional support during staffing crises or emergencies.

Requirements

• Conferred Master’s degree (from an accredited University/College) in a mental health or related field required.
• Clinical license preferred (Licensed Psychologist, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT).
• Experience working with children and youth with mental health issues and their families.
• Skills in family therapy interventions, crisis interventions, culturally sensitive interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other applicable treatment modalities.
• Understanding of trauma effects on individuals admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit.
• Expertise in child development, attachment issues, trauma treatment, abuse/neglect, and foster/adoptive family issues.
• Knowledge of stages of change and motivational interviewing.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Word minimum) for EHR and report writing.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Pay

• Salary Grade 51 - Master’s Unlicensed Clinician: $62,700 - $70,400 (includes 10% salary differential for working with youth in a 24/7-residential facility).
• Salary Grade 52 - Licensed Clinician (LCSW, LMFT, LPC): $77,000 – $84,920 (includes 10% salary differential).
• Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week); part-time hours will be prorated.
• Bonus opportunities:
  • CSU Master’s Level Bonus: $1,000 paid at one month, six months, and one year anniversaries.
  • CSU Licensed Bonus (LPC, LMFT, LCSW): $2,000 paid at one month, $1,000 at six months, and $1,000 at one year anniversaries.
• Bonuses are prorated for less than 40 hours/week and require a minimum of 20 hours/week for eligibility.

Part-time weekend position, Saturday & Sunday schedule.
