About the role

The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate positions during the 2025–2026 academic year to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the intersection of psychology and law.

Responsibilities

  • Teach psychology and law courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.
  • Prepare course syllabi, lectures, learning exercises, exams, and other course materials, and grade assignments and assessments.
  • Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
  • Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.

Requirements

  • For teaching undergraduate classes: an earned master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment.
  • For teaching graduate-level classes, either one of the following by the time of appointment:
    • An earned doctoral degree or ABD in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment;
    • Or an earned master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment and at least two (2) years of related experience in a field related to the intersection of psychology and law.

Qualifications

  • An earned master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment for teaching undergraduate classes.
  • An earned doctoral degree or ABD in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment or an earned master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) with at least two (2) years of related experience in a field related to the intersection of psychology and law for teaching graduate-level classes.
  • Experience working in public or private settings at the intersection of psychology and law (e.g., police psychology, correctional psychology, forensic psychology, jury consulting, victims’ services, justice policy think tanks, etc.).
  • Two or more semesters of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels either online or in-person.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness as demonstrated by one or more of the following: student evaluations, peer evaluations, annual performance evaluations, or prior course syllabi.
  • Experience with technology/course management systems.
  • Demonstrated excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • An earned doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment.
  • Experience working in public or private settings at the intersection of psychology and law (e.g., police psychology, correctional psychology, forensic psychology, jury consulting, victims’ services, justice policy think tanks, etc.).

Pay

Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Schedule

The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment.
