About the role
The Pool Manager oversees staff and facility operations, coordinates programs, maintains safety, and adheres to department policies.
Responsibilities
- Prepares daily lesson plans, materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintains records on attendance and participant evaluations.
- Prepares written reports and evaluates staff performance.
- Supervises inventories and clean-up of aquatic equipment.
- Schedules and supervises daily maintenance tasks.
- Attends in-service training and performs related duties as required.
- Tests pool water for chemical balance and applies necessary chemicals.
- Maintains filtration and chlorination systems.
- Safeguards cash, pool receipts, and tickets.
- Prepares reports on pool water, facility status, and activities.
Requirements
- Possess or obtain Water Safety Instructor certification.
- Hold CPR and First Aid certifications by hire date.
- Pass a physical agility swim test as part of the selection process.
- Complete mandatory orientation before employment.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a community college with approximately three (3) seasons of paid experience in aquatics.
- Experience in recreation or aquatics may substitute for education on a pro-rata basis up to two (2) years.
- Ability to perform lifesaving techniques, instruct advanced swimming strokes, and evaluate various skill levels.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with staff and the public.

Schedule
The City of Compton operates on a 4/10 work week schedule: Monday - Thursday: 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Closed each Friday.
