Position Information

The Oakland University-Pontiac Initiative, Early Childhood Education (OUPIECE) group and the Department of Human Development and Child Studies (HDCS) at Oakland University, in partnership with Pontiac School District (PSD) invite applications to the Pontiac Community Interviewer position to work on a newly funded project to co-design an infant-toddler center and resource hub at Pontiac High School (Baby PEACE).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive lived experience in Pontiac
  • Interest in education and/or care of young children, birth through age 3
  • Responsible, dependable, and able to think on their feet and problem solve
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using a digital recorder or additional technology, such as Zoom, or able to learn quickly

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong interest in early childhood education
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Hmong, or Arabic

Job Duties

As a Pontiac Community Interviewer, you will be a part of the community-led research team. We seek an individual who has extensive knowledge of the Pontiac community and is adept in collecting community feedback through interviews or focus groups (using a co-developed protocol) about the design of Baby PEACE. No prior research experience is needed. However, applicants must pass the CITI (human subjects research ethics) training prior to full hire. In addition, training on how to do focus groups and interviews will be provided.

$25/hour for up to 100 hours across two years. Position begins immediately and ends on August 30, 2026.
