Polysomnographic Technicians - Registered / Non-Registered

About the role

Cleveland Clinic’s Sleep Disorders Center is a multispecialty, comprehensive program dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in children and adults. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the center includes specialists in neurology, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, pulmonary medicine, psychiatry, psychology, and otolaryngology. The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) conducts overnight sleep studies to assist in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders, preparing patients, applying monitoring equipment, educating patients, and monitoring physiological data throughout the night.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing.
• Interview patients to determine sleep disorder issues and explain testing procedures.
• Perform and document testing.
• Monitor patients throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
• Instruct non‑registered staff and trainees.
• Score, interpret, and report results of sleep studies.
• Prepare, calibrate, repair, and maintain equipment required for testing.
• Determine and report needed repairs or replacements.
• Perform quality assurance activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry items up to 50 lb, and assist with patient positioning and transport.
• Ability to maneuver and operate equipment with normal or corrected vision and hearing.
• Manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, and ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Potential exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids; follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $22.85 – Maximum hourly: $34.85. This range reflects the anticipated compensation for new hires and does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.

Schedule

Variable hours between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
