About the role
Develops competency in and performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under the direct supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist. The technician will be limited to performing basic polysomnography studies alone. CPAP/BIPAP titration studies must be performed with a polysomnographic technologist present, approving the changes made.
Requirements
- Must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
- Must enroll and complete the AASM A-Step process or the CAAHEP program during the first 18 months of employment as a polysomnographic technician.
- Must obtain the RPSGT credential from the BRPT or the RST credential from the American Board of Sleep Medicine within 1 year of being eligible to sit for the exam (must be in the position for 18 months to be eligible).
