Job Description

NoCCCD is now accepting applications for a Political Science Instructor at Cypress College!

Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to teach Political Science courses at the community college level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of contemporary political issues and their application to classroom instruction
  • Teaching experience at the community college level
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality instruction, student motivation, student success, and academic excellence
  • Experience and successful use of innovative and creative teaching methods
  • Demonstrated use of computers/technology in teaching
  • Experience with multiple instructional modalities
  • Experience working with transfer-oriented programs and preparing students for CSU and UC pathways
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the success and retention of diverse student populations, including women, students of color, and students with disabilities, through comprehensive teaching practices, responsive mentorship, and impartial learning strategies that promote persistence and success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s in political science, government, or international relations OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, and any ethnic studies, Juris Doctor Degree (J,D,) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
  • Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
  • The equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District

Salary Range

$1572.67 - $1725.85 per lecture unit rate, $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lab parity unit rate, $1258.16 - $1380.60 per lab unit rate
