Political Science Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool, Inmate Education Program Opportunity

About the role

Kern Community College District is accepting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors to provide instruction in a full range of Political Science courses. Applications remain active for up to two years and may be contacted by department supervisors if a need arises. The starting salary range is $67.00/hour; the hourly rate may vary based on the type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in a full range of Political Science courses
• Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Science department
• Maintain subject matter currency
• Develop and revise curriculum
• Use computer and multimedia technology
• Engage in collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities
• Teach using multiple methodologies and at various campus sites, including day, evening, or weekend classes; large classes; distance learning classes; and classes for incarcerated students

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s in Political Science, Government, or International Relations; OR
• Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in Economics, History, Public Administration, Social Science, Sociology, any ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B.; OR
• Possession of a valid credential which authorizes full-time teaching of Political Science at the California Community College level; OR
• The equivalent

Candidates who feel they possess equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form with supporting documents. Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions. Any degree from outside the United States must be evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member service.
