Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze federal and state regulatory developments affecting downstream energy markets
  • Advise internal teams on policy and regulatory risk, opportunities, and strategic implications
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, legal, and operational teams to ensure alignment on policy developments and to translate policy outcomes into actionable guidance
  • Support the development and execution of advocacy strategies and policy positions
  • Engage on gas-electric coordination issues by monitoring and participating in relevant proceedings to assess implications for natural gas supply, infrastructure access, and system reliability
  • Act as a liaison between upstream operational teams and power/utility-related stakeholders to ensure integrated solutions for regulatory, permitting and market-related issues
  • Engage with regulatory agencies such as FERC, NERC, state public utility commissions, and other related organizations to represent company interests
  • Represent the company in industry associations, regulatory meetings, and public forums
  • May involve some travel, mostly US domestic
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and achieve strategic objectives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and policy issues for diverse audiences
  • Advanced knowledge of trade & technical terminology while understanding oil & gas operations, drilling, geology and land functions
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with various federal and state governmental agencies and staff
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with federal and state regulatory agencies, particularly FERC
  • Advanced knowledge of laws, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, oil and gas law, permitting and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy or related field
  • Minimum: 8 years experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with experience in downstream markets such as utilities
