About the role
Join Zelestra in leading day-ahead bidding and managing day-ahead and real-time market exposure, while advancing the data, analytics, and systems that support forecasting, settlements, revenue attribution, and scalable revenue optimization.
Responsibilities
- Own day-ahead market participation and bidding strategy for Zelestra’s U.S. operating fleet, managing DART exposure across DA-settled PPAs and real-time generation sales.
- Own the commercial requirements and daily use of revenue optimization tools supporting forecasting, bidding, settlements, DART analytics, and P&L attribution.
- Establish and continuously evaluate a disciplined, policy-based bidding strategy using forecast confidence, market conditions, and measured performance.
- Lead monthly revenue attribution, including forecast error, bidding performance, nodal basis/congestion, and market uplift.
- Lead market readiness for new projects, including QSE onboarding, registrations, collateral, telemetry, bidding workflows, and market-specific playbooks.
- Manage forecasting, QSE, market services, and data/software vendors.
- Assess nodal basis and congestion exposure and support evaluation of CRR/FTR and other hedging opportunities.
- Maintain short-term commercial risk controls, including offer limits, escalation protocols, and uplift monitoring.
- Support Structured Finance, Asset Management, and M&A with merchant revenue analysis, diligence, and market intelligence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of hands-on power market experience, including day-ahead bidding, real-time operations, and/or settlements.
- Strong knowledge of ERCOT and MSIO required and PJM a plus.
- Experience with renewable production forecasting, bidding under uncertainty, and RTO settlement reconciliation.
- Ability to define analytical tools and processes and partner effectively with technical teams; SQL/Python experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with PPA/hedge settlements, nodal basis, and congestion exposure preferred.
- Comfortable owning daily market operations in a lean, hands-on environment.
Pay
The anticipated starting salary for this role is $175,000 annual plus a competitive bonus structure. Actual pay will vary depending on job-related factors, such as the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
