POLICE RECRUIT

About the role

The Huntington Beach Police Department seeks to hire individuals who embody the values of community-based policing and are committed to building trusted relationships within the community.

Responsibilities

• Attend a basic POST-certified academy, which includes an overview of the criminal justice system, including laws, police procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid, and lifetime physical fitness.
• Undergo strenuous physical conditioning to meet or exceed required standards of performance.
• Read and interpret highly complex written materials such as laws, statutes, manuals, etc.
• Clearly and concisely present ideas orally and in writing.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age by the end of the academy.
• Able to demonstrate good school/work history.
• Have law enforcement experience such as Police Cadet, Explorer, or similar roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California driver's license.
• Comprehensive background investigation.

Skills

• Ability to observe and learn laws, police procedures, law enforcement techniques, and first aid.
• Ability to analyze problems and take effective action in emergency and stressful situations.
• Ability to read and interpret complex written materials.
• Ability to present ideas orally and in writing.

Benefits

• Monthly salary range: $5,202 - $6,445 (June 24, 2023) to $5,736 - $7,105 (June 21, 2025).
• This is a continuous recruitment with applications accepted until the hiring department determines enough qualified applications have been received.
