Police Property Evidence Technician

About the role

The Police Property Evidence Technician is responsible for managing and preserving physical evidence collected at crime scenes. This includes processing evidence, maintaining evidence storage facilities, and ensuring compliance with legal standards.

Responsibilities

• Collects, processes, and preserves physical evidence from crime scenes.
• Maintains evidence storage facilities in accordance with legal and departmental standards.
• Ensures all evidence is properly documented and labeled.
• Collaborates with investigators and other departments to ensure evidence is used effectively in investigations.
• Adheres to strict protocols to maintain chain of custody for all evidence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, forensic science, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in evidence collection and preservation.
• Knowledge of legal standards and procedures for handling evidence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in computer software, including databases and imaging systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.

Pay

$50,000 - $55,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
