About the role
The Concord Police Department seeks to hire a Police Officer Trainee to join their team. The department provides high-quality policing services to enhance community safety and reduce crime.
Responsibilities
- Attend an upcoming POST-approved Police Academy
- Successfully pass a POST-approved written examination
- Receive the annual salary and full benefits of a regular full-time, sworn Police Officer upon successful completion of the Academy
- Learn standard operating procedures of police headquarters, radio-telephone, and keyboard-type communications equipment
- Understand and interpret laws and regulations
- Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive written reports
- Become proficient in self-defense techniques and the care and use of firearms
- Follow oral and written instructions
- Deal courteously and effectively with the general public
- Embrace and embody the City’s Mission, Vision, and Values
Requirements
- Equivalent of 60 college semester units or more
- A T-Score of 50 or higher on the California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (POST Pellet B)
- Valid California Driver's License
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Qualifications
- Minimum Age: 21 years old
- Character & Background: No conviction for which the punishment could have been imprisonment in a state prison or federal penitentiary
- Hearing: Normal hearing acuity
- Weight: Good proportion to height
- Physical & Mental Condition: Sound physical condition, adequate physical stature, strength, endurance, and agility, good mentality and emotional maturity, in good health, and free from chronic disease, impairment of bodily function, loss or impairment of the use of any digit, history of psychosis or psychoneurosis, or other disabling defects
- Vision: Normal color vision and visual functions, free of abnormal conditions or diseases affecting performance of duty, and with visual acuity of not less than 20/100 vision in both eyes without correction for glass wearers and not less than 20/200 vision in both eyes without correction for contact lens wearers
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law
