About the role
The City of Redwood City invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Police Officer Trainee. This role involves attending a Basic Police Academy to meet the minimum training requirements set by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
Responsibilities
- Attend and successfully complete a Basic Police Academy course.
- Upon completion, transition to a Police Officer safety position and enter the Field Training Program for Police Officers.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and connected community through data-driven policing models and community policing strategies.
- Provide excellent service with integrity and respect, striving for self-improvement and high motivation.
Requirements
- Completion of 30 semester units from an accredited college or university (60 units preferred).
- Possession of a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be 21 years old by the examination date.
- Physically capable of passing the California P.O.S.T. medical examination.
- Meet all regulatory requirements for becoming a Peace Officer with a California P.O.S.T. agency.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform the duties of a Police Officer, including observing and recalling accurately, using and caring for firearms, thinking and acting quickly in emergencies, understanding and interpreting laws and regulations, understanding and carrying out oral and written directions, preparing concise and comprehensive written reports, and establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
