About the role

Responsibilities
- Patrol city to deter and detect criminal activity and perform traffic law enforcement;
- Make arrests, where appropriate;
- Administer first aid;
- Rescue persons in dangerous or accident situations;
- Drive a squad car at normal and high speeds;
- Sit and stand for long periods of time;
- Chase suspects on foot over all types of ground conditions;
- Identify colors for identification;
- Qualify with department authorized firearms;
- Operate a variety of equipment;
- Communicate with the public and members of the Police Department;
- Maintain physical fitness.
Requirements
- Currently licensed as a Minnesota Peace Officer (POST);
- At least one year of law enforcement experience;
- Out-of-state officers should review Minnesota POST Board reciprocity requirements;
- Able to perform essential position functions under various weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License;
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field;
- Currently licensed as a Minnesota Peace Officer (POST);
- One or more years of law enforcement experience;
- Successful completion of job-related medical, physical agility, drug, and psychological examinations;
- Able to perform essential position functions under the working conditions as described.

Pay
$47.24 – $54.59/hour (2026 contract rate)
Schedule
40 hours of vacation available immediately; 120 hours (15 days) annually after accrual begins; 10-hour shifts offering additional days off; On-duty workout time to support officer wellness.
