The City of Owensboro is hiring experienced Police Officers. Excellent Pay and Benefits!

• Up to a $25,000 sign on bonus
• Competitive Salary based on years of service (currently ranging between $60,440 to $79,458)
• Eligible for annual step and COLA increases
• Eligible for $4,429 a year state training incentive pay
• Structured Retention Bonuses:
  • 3 years - $2000
  • 6 years - $3000
  • 9 years - $5000
  • 12 years - $6000
• Yearly clothing allowance of $750

Examples of Duties

Patrols assigned beat on foot or in/on appropriate police vehicle in order to:

• Control traffic
• Prevent crime
• Prevent disturbance of peace
• Ars arrest violators.
• May be assigned to other units as well.

Typical Qualifications

• To be considered for a lateral transfer, applicant must:
• Have at least 2 consecutive years of paid experience as a full-time peace officer
• Be employed as a full-time peace officer within the previous 12 months, prior to application date
• Be POPS certified and such certification must be portable and obtained without having to attend the OPD or DOCJT Basic Training Academy
