About the role

The Oakbrook Terrace Police Department is recruiting certified police officers for immediate hiring needs. The department's mission is to safeguard life and property, preserve the peace, prevent and detect crime, enforce the law, and protect the rights of all citizens. They work in partnership with the community to identify and resolve public safety issues, aiming to enhance the quality of life in Oakbrook Terrace.

Pay

Starting salary: $78,368 - $119,117 (depending on years of service or experience). A $7,000 hiring incentive is offered. Stipends for specialty positions are available, including:

  • Detective
  • Acting Shift Commander
  • Range Instructor
  • Field Training Officer

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status with legal authorization to work in the U.S. and possess a firearm
  • Valid driver’s license at the time of application; ability to obtain an Illinois driver’s license upon hire
  • Certified full-time, sworn officer of a regular police department (municipal, county, university, or state) for at least two continuous years within the three years preceding appointment, certified by the Illinois Training and Standards Board
  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or high school proficiency statement
  • No felony convictions; good moral character as defined by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6
  • Ability to successfully complete all phases of testing
