About the role

The Duvall Police Department is seeking Police Officers, Lateral- BLEA Certified or Out of State Certification. The position requires individuals who embody professionalism, honor, preparedness, integrity, and positivity.

Responsibilities

• Perform patrol assignments and duties of a regular patrol officer.
• Recognize the importance of law enforcement activities and provide courteous treatment to citizens.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in meeting emergencies.
• Participate in special law enforcement activities such as non-routine investigations, surveillance, and juvenile matters.
• Review performance continuously through a performance appraisal of work methods, results achieved, reports, personal inspection, and discussion.

Requirements

• United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident.
• Minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age by certification date of eligibility list.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Satisfactory completion of medical exam and drug screen.
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid State of Washington Driver's License.
• No significant or serious moving violations on driving record.
• Personal record free of any crimes or convictions for crimes involving moral character.
• Passing oral, psychological, and polygraph tests.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Basic Law Enforcement School Certificate issued by the State of Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission.
• Out of state candidates must pass the CJTC equivalency examination.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete field training.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Personal History Questionnaire "PHQ", polygraph examination, and psychological evaluation.
• Interviews with personal and professional acquaintances.
• Review of online/social media presence.
• Verification of personal and professional records such as: criminal history checks, fingerprints, credit checks, IRS tax statements, military records, school transcripts, driving abstracts, and Department of Licensing records.

Successful candidates will possess the ability to recognize the importance of law enforcement activities, provide courteous treatment to citizens, exercise independent judgment and discretion in meeting emergencies, participate in special law enforcement activities, and review performance continuously through a performance appraisal of work methods, results achieved, reports, personal inspection, and discussion.
