About the role
The Pasadena Police Department is seeking dedicated and ambitious individuals to join our team. Lateral Police Officers hired by the City receive a lump sum payment of $2,500 upon successful completion of one month of work, with subsequent incentive pays of $2,500 after six months and $3,000 upon completing the probationary period. Additionally, lateral officers receive an initial bank of forty (40) hours of sick leave.
Responsibilities
- Enforce laws and maintain public order
- Investigate crimes and gather evidence
- Provide emergency response services
- Interact with the public and handle complaints
- Participate in community policing initiatives
Requirements
- Current non-probationary California peace officer with a Basic POST certificate
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Physical and ethical capacity to perform the duties of a Police Officer
- Strong interest in serving the community of Pasadena

- Demonstrated honesty and high moral character
- Moral and physical courage to enforce the law
- Analytical skills to evaluate sensitive and dangerous situations
- Reading comprehension to understand departmental policies
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Respectful community policing behavior

- Service-oriented and motivated to serve the community

Special Requirements
- Class C California Driver’s License
- Vision requirements
