About the role
This position requires an extensive background investigation and polygraph examination. The investigation includes checks of criminal, credit, employment, and educational histories. Additionally, interviews with family, friends, current and past supervisors, co-workers, and neighbors will be conducted.
Responsibilities

- Current employment as a sworn Peace Officer
Requirements
The City does not participate in Social Security. Employees will contribute the equivalent of $85 per month to offset CalPERS Unfunded Accrued Liability costs. The employee contributions made pursuant to this Employee CalPERS Response Giveback Plan will be coordinated as a pre-tax contribution and considered part of the employee contribution towards CalPERS retirement system costs.

Application Instructions
Have all required information ready for the background investigation and polygraph examination. Provide a valid California Class C Driver's License if applicable. Complete a POST certified police academy within the last year. Be currently employed as a sworn Peace Officer. Ensure all information on the application is complete and accurate.
Background Investigation
Provide the Police Department with the following information during the background investigation phase of the selection process:
- Criminal history
- Credit history
- Employment history
- Education history
- Interviews with family, friends, current and past supervisors, co-workers, and neighbors
Driver's License
Must have a valid California Class C Driver's License. Out-of-state applicants must have a driver's license in their state of residence and be willing and able to obtain a CA driver's license if offered this position.
Information Accuracy
Any inaccurate information or an incomplete application may lead to disqualification. Examples of incomplete/inaccurate information include incomplete/incorrect employment dates, stating "see resume" under job duties, not attaching requested copies of certificates, etc.
POST Certified Police Academy
Must have completed a POST certified police academy within the last year.
Sworn Peace Officer
Must be currently employed as a sworn Peace Officer.
