About the role
The Bothell Police Department is seeking dedicated professionals to join their team. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to community service, integrity, and the ability to handle challenging situations.
Responsibilities
- Perform patrol assignments and duties as a regular patrol officer.
- Handle emergencies and respond to calls for service.
- Investigate criminal cases and conduct surveillance.
- Work with detectives on complex investigations.
- Assist in special law enforcement activities as needed.
Requirements
- United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident.
- Minimum of 21 years of age by certification date.
- A high school diploma with an Associate degree in Law Enforcement preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of a medical exam and drug screen.
- Valid State of Washington Driver's License.
- No significant or serious moving violations on driving record.
- Clear personal record, free of crimes or convictions involving moral character.
- Pass oral, psychological, and polygraph tests.
- Possess a Basic Law Enforcement School Certificate issued by the State of Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission.
Qualifications
- Academy Graduates (BLEA Certified): Must be graduates of the WSCJTC Basic Academy or trainees scheduled for graduation within 60 days.
- Out of state candidates must pass the WSCJTC equivalency examination.
Skills
Officers should demonstrate the ability to think creatively, work independently, and handle emergencies with professionalism.

Pay
The anticipated salary for 2026 includes a 2.7% cost of living adjustment (COLA).
Schedule
Patrol officers work fourteen 12-hour shifts within a 28-day cycle, resulting in a 3-day weekend every other week.
Recruitment Process
An application with the City of Bothell is not required at this time. Candidates should visit Public Safety Testing to complete required testing and share their scores with the City of Bothell. Test scores are reviewed regularly, and candidates will be notified if they are invited to move forward to an Oral Board.
