Police Officer (Exceptional Entry)

About the role

The City of Bonney Lake is continuously accepting applications for a Police Officer position. The department is seeking individuals who can contribute to the community's safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and department policies.
• Patrol the city to enforce laws, prevent crime, preserve peace, and provide public protection.
• Initiate and respond to calls for service or incidents requiring police attention.
• Process complaints, arrest offenders, conduct investigations, and obtain search warrants.
• Participate in crime prevention initiatives and respond to traffic collisions or medical emergencies.
• Ensure all work complies with legal guidelines and departmental policies.
• Testify in court proceedings and prepare for court testimony.
• Perform traffic and crowd control functions as necessary.
• Transport and book prisoners into detention facilities.
• Report hazardous conditions, equipment problems, and matters of intelligence to superiors.
• Arrive on time for duty hours, dressed in proper uniform, and physically/mentally fit for duty.
• Sign, understand, and commit to the Oath of Office.
• May serve as a member or leader of various City committees.

Requirements

• Current possession of a Washington State Peace Officer Certification and less than 2 consecutive years of police experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to read and write the English language.
• Lawful permanent resident, United States citizen, or deferred action for childhood arrivals recipient.
• Not less than 21 years of age at the time of hire.
• Pass oral interview process, interview with the Chief of Police, and meet minimum medical and health standards.
• Strict personal background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, and medical physical, including a drug-screening test.
