About the role
The City of Bonney Lake is seeking a dedicated individual to join its Police Department. The position is open to applicants who have passed the new written exam effective March 1, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and department policies.
- Patrol the city to enforce laws, prevent crime, preserve peace, and provide public protection.
- Respond to calls for service and incidents requiring police attention.
- Initiate and respond to investigations, collect and preserve evidence, and interview victims and witnesses.
- Participate in crime prevention initiatives and respond to traffic collisions or medical emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with legal guidelines and departmental policies.
- Testify in court proceedings and prepare for testimony.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
- Lawful permanent resident, United States citizen, or deferred action for childhood arrivals recipient.
- Not less than 21 years of age at the time of hire.
- Ability to pass entrance examination, interview with the Chief of Police, and meet minimum medical and health standards.
- Pass stringent personal background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, and medical physical, including a drug-screening test.

- Knowledge of modern police methods and procedures; laws of arrest, search and seizure; principles of crime and accident investigation; basic techniques for crime prevention and criminal investigations; identification and preservation of evidence.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $46,000 to $60,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
The City of Bonney Lake operates on a standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, many departments have implemented alternative schedules for those employees wishing to work a flex schedule. Some positions require weekend, shift, holiday, and/or overtime work.
