About the role
The Cobb County Police Department seeks highly motivated, hardworking, and ethical individuals to join its progressive team and serve a vibrant community. Applicants must successfully complete a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 2:06 or less.
Responsibilities
- Enforces all applicable codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations to protect life and property, prevent crime, and promote security.
- Detects and deters criminal activity by patrolling designated areas, responding to calls, writing citations, arresting, and processing criminals.
- Conducts preliminary investigations, interviews victims, witnesses, and collects evidence.
- Performs rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters, including lifting, dragging, carrying, securing, evacuating, administering medical aid, and extinguishing small fires.
- Communicates via telephone and radio, providing education and information on laws, law enforcement, crime prevention, drug abuse, and related issues.
- Attends training sessions, seminars, and meetings to remain knowledgeable of departmental operations, policies, and procedures.
- Operates or uses various equipment associated with law enforcement to complete work assignments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to pass all departmental specified training and certifications prior to completing the working test period.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Georgia POST Peace Officer Certification.
- Ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age at the time of hire (unless Military, Police Explorer or Cadet, Jailer, Deputy, or JROTC/ROTC Cadet).
- Have a current and valid driver's license.
- Not have EVER used marijuana or hashish in any form, including products containing THC such as gummi, edibles, vapes, etc.

Pay
- Entry Level Police Officer: $54,000.
- Lateral Officer Pay: Placement in Step in Grade pay scale based on years of service.
- Shift Differential: $0.50/hour for Evening Shift, $1.00/hour for Morning Shift.
- Education Incentive Pay: $1,000 for Associates Degree, $2,000 for Bachelor's Degree, $3,000 for Master's Degree.
Schedule
- Various shifts available, including Evening and Morning Shifts.
