About the role
The Northwestern State University Police Department is seeking dedicated Police Officers to join our team. We serve, educate, and protect the public through community collaboration, problem recognition, problem resolution, and police action. We are looking for individuals committed to upholding the law, protecting others, and promoting a safer community.
Responsibilities
- Enforce laws and investigate crimes.
- Maintain records of all reports recorded.
- Provide first aid and emergency services.
- Investigate accidents, enforce parking and traffic regulations, and campus regulations.
- Conduct crime prevention and security programs, guard services, and direct traffic.
- Operate police network computers and respond to calls.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
- Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Qualifications
- No experience or training is required.
Skills
- Commitment to upholding the law.
- Ability to protect others.
- Knowledge of community policing.
- First aid and emergency response skills.
- Experience with police technology and computer systems.
Benefits
- Compensation varies based on experience and level of certification.
- Rotating 12-hour shifts with rotating days off.
Pay
- Special Entrance Rate: Police Officer 1 - $18.58/hour, Police Officer 2 - $19.88/hour.
Schedule
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
- Rotating 12-hour shifts.
- Rotating days off.
