The Police Officer I, II, or III position within Syracuse City Corporation involves responding to life and property-threatening calls, conducting investigations, making arrests, and performing various law enforcement duties. The role requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work under stress.

Responsibilities

• Responds to life and property-threatening calls such as robbery, burglary, family disturbance, theft, vandalism, arson, etc.
• Conducts investigation and follow-up investigation on scene and suspects.
• Makes arrests of offenders.
• Writes crime case reports, arrest reports, complaint reports, etc.
• Appears and testifies in court.
• Performs traffic enforcement and routine patrol.
• Operates breathalyzer and radar equipment.
• Conducts security checks of business and residential establishments.
• Issues tickets to traffic violators.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Must be 21 years of age within 6 months of announcement closing date.
• Valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a Utah driver's license within 14 days of hire.
• Successfully pass the physical testing, oral interview, background, polygraph, and drug screen.
• Utah Law Enforcement Officer Certification or Special Functions Certification is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include: Graduation from high school or GED.
• Must be 21 years of age within 6 months of announcement closing date.
