Responsibilities

• Assist sworn police officers and the community.
• Work under close supervision according to set procedures.

Requirements

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Must successfully pass a city physical examination, psychological examination, background investigation (to include a polygraph examination), and physical agility examination.
• This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
• Must be between 18 and 24 years of age.

Qualifications

• May require rotating shifts.
• Requires frequent travel throughout the city.
• Must be able to maintain the ability to provide credible testimony in court, to the magistrate and in other situations where credibility will be of importance.

Pay and Schedule

• Benefits begin on the 1st of the month following one full calendar month of employment.

Schedule

• Eleven paid holidays each year including New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.
