About the role
The DCU Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The successful candidate will contribute to research projects focused on media, democracy, and digital technologies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research within the Institute's thematic areas
- Contribute to the design and delivery of research projects
- Prepare research outputs for publication in peer-reviewed journals and other formats
- Present findings at conferences, workshops, and other academic events
- Engage with stakeholders including policymakers, civil society, and media organisations
- Contribute to the development of funding proposals and project reports
- Participate in the Institute's public engagement and knowledge exchange activities
Requirements
- PhD completed in a relevant discipline (e.g., media studies, political science, communication, sociology, or a related field)
- Demonstrated track record of research publications appropriate to career stage
- Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
Qualifications
- Expertise in one or more of the Institute's research areas: media and democracy, disinformation, digital media literacy, media pluralism, deliberative democracy, or related topics
- Experience with research project management and delivery
- Evidence of engagement with policy or practice communities
Skills
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Proficiency in relevant research software and tools
- Ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences
- Experience with data analysis and interpretation
Pay
Salary is in accordance with DCU postdoctoral researcher scales and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Schedule
The position is full-time and fixed-term for a specified period, with the exact duration to be confirmed upon appointment.
