About the role

The DCU Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society is seeking a Researcher to contribute to its work on media, democracy, and digital technologies. The role involves conducting research on topics such as disinformation, media pluralism, deliberative democracy, and digital media policy, with opportunities to work on multiple projects across the Institute's research portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on media, democracy, and digital technologies
  • Contribute to research projects including EDMO Ireland, EUComMeet, ReMED, and other Institute initiatives
  • Prepare research outputs including reports, journal articles, and policy briefs
  • Participate in the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations
  • Engage with stakeholders including policymakers, civil society organisations, and media professionals
  • Contribute to the Institute's teaching and training activities as appropriate

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., media studies, political science, communications, sociology, or related field)
  • Strong research record commensurate with career stage
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of the Institute's research focus

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills
  • Project management and organisational abilities
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Capacity to engage with policy and practice communities
