About the role
The role's mission is to disciple new believers toward spiritual maturity by faithfully teaching the Bible in the Pol language. The church planter will identify and equip leaders from among these believers and support them as they establish and lead churches within their own communities.
Responsibilities
- Build and sustain gospel-centered relationships with Pol men and women by living among them and intentionally learning their language and culture.
- Share the gospel, disciple new believers, and develop emerging Pol church leaders.
- Coordinate WT’s team and Fulbe project funds.
- Collaborate with other mission agencies, using the newly translated Scriptures as much as possible.
Requirements
- A degree in Biblical Studies or equivalent ministry experience
- Three (3) years of church leadership experience (preferred)
- Willingness to commit at least 10 years to the project
- A solid commitment to the spiritual disciplines (i.e., Bible reading, prayer, etc.)
Qualifications
- A vibrant spiritual life, characterized by consistent practice of the spiritual disciplines
- A strong understanding of Scripture, including the ability to teach Biblical truth that counters the distortions of the popular Prosperity Gospel
- Patience and perseverance, as faithfully communicating in the Pol language will require time and disciplined study
Skills
- Willingly committed to the project for at least 10 years
- Proficient in the Pol language
- Effective in evangelism and discipleship
- Strong personal commitment to the spiritual disciplines, such as regular Bible study and prayer
