Poison Information Specialist - North Texas Poison Center

Location: 2nd Floor, BLK 900

Schedule

• Full-time, rotating (36 hours/week), including weekends and holidays
• Flexible shift options: 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour shifts covering late-night and overnight hours (10 pm – 2 am)
• Training period: Must work 4/10-hour shifts for the first four months, which may include day shifts

About the Role

Serves as a resource to health professionals and the public by providing professional and technical assistance regarding potential poisonings and conducting educational and research projects to ensure Poison Center operations meet regulatory requirements and the needs of users.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy, or
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, or
• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an approved college of Medicine/Osteopathy

Experience

• One (1) year of professional pharmacist, registered nursing, or physician experience in a hospital environment (clinical rotations, volunteer work, internships, and/or LVN experience do not substitute)

Certification/Registration/Licensure

• Must have or obtain and maintain a current American Poison Centers (APC) Poison Information Specialist certification within five years of hire

If education is a Pharmacy degree:

• Must be a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas or become registered within 90 days of hire

If education is a Nursing degree:

• Must have a current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing, or a valid Compact RN license, and maintain thereafter
