POC Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs, demonstrates proficiency and understands Point of Care testing as it relates to patient care. Develops relationships with all nursing areas to promote and monitor testing. Assists in instructing testing personnel in all patient care areas. Performs teaching with a perceptive depth of clinical Laboratory tests and procedures. Ensures that the highest quality of care is maintained at all times for bedside testing. Has thorough knowledge of all CAP, JCAHO and CLIA regulations as it pertains to Point of Care. With input from the Laboratory staff and management, develops and maintains the Performance Improvement program for the Laboratory.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Show competency in performing testing procedures
- Performs, monitors, evaluates Quality control for bedside testing
- Instructs nursing staff on use of instrumentation, develops competencies for nursing staff
- Maintains and complies data for PI for the Laboratory
- Serves as the POCT committee chairperson
- Attendance and being on time, ready to work your scheduled hours, is an essential job function
- Research new POCT instruments, hospital needs and makes recommendations to Lab Technical Manager
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Licensure/certification/registration: ASCP registered
- Experience: 3 years as MT and/or 2 years supervisor in lab setting
- Special Skills & Qualifications: Ability to listen, interact and communicate verbally and in writing.
