About the role

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a pneumatic tube technician. The hospital is located at Washington University Medical Center and is ranked among the top hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, tests, and repairs the hospital’s pneumatic tube transport system while monitoring performance data to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Provides user support and coordinates with maintenance staff and vendors on inspections, repairs, and component replacements.
  • Performs operational support, diagnostics, troubleshooting, testing, and corrective maintenance of the hospital’s pneumatic tube transport system, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
  • Makes sure the pneumatic tube transport system operates smoothly by analyzing operational data, error logs, and performance reports to identify trends, root causes, and reliability concerns.
  • Maintains adequate inventory to reduce lead time of repair and maintenance parts.
  • Develops and recommends system optimizations and corrective actions to improve efficiency and overall system reliability.
  • Trains and supports clinical and operational staff; collaborates with maintenance teams and external vendors on inspections, installations, repairs, upgrades, and component replacements.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: No Experience Required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Associate or Trade School Equipped with 2-5 years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Skills

  • Knowledge of pneumatic tube systems.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Pay

The pay for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is flexible, offering options such as Days 6 AM-2:30 PM Monday- Friday or 2 pm-10:30 pm Sunday-Thursday or Monday-Friday.
