Facilities Management's Health System Physical Plant at the University of Virginia has an exciting opportunity for an Electronic Pneumatic Tube System Technician.

About the role

Electronic Pneumatic Tube System Technicians troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair instrumentation and controls for pneumatic tube electro-mechanical systems and associated equipment, including system servers. They perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical pneumatic tube systems within a healthcare environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, as training system users and other maintenance staff is an essential part of the role. Work is performed with minimal supervision while complying with all safety requirements and procedures. Technicians may work in high-energy and/or high-risk environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install electronic devices and controls.
  • Perform circuit analysis as part of testing and calibrate equipment according to specified standards.
  • Order, stock, remove, and replace electronic and related equipment.
  • Conduct inspections, maintain logs, and report areas of concern that could result in system shutdown.
  • Perform minor maintenance as necessary.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience with related electronic equipment.
  • Selected candidates will be required to complete all required background checks prior to the first day of employment.

Pay

Anticipated hiring range: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour ($62,400 - $68,640 per year).

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
