PMU262H1 - Piano Teaching Methods Practicum

About the role

A practical experiences in teaching beginner to intermediate level adult pianists and observations of children’s private lessons and group classes in the University of Toronto Piano Pedagogy Program.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate practicum placement of students in community piano program.
• Monitor and mentor student teaching.
• Deliver instruction on topics in piano pedagogy.
• Prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy.
• Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in piano performance and pedagogy.
• Extensive experience teaching private and group piano lessons to children and adults at the beginner to intermediate levels.
• Extensive experience with administration of a community piano program.
• Extensive adjudication experience of examinations and/or festivals.
• Teacher training experience preferred.
