PMO Manager
About the role
The PMO Manager leads coaching and mentoring of project managers to build capabilities and promote best practices. They support a culture of continuous improvement and best practices. They provide tactical leadership and contribute to PMO operational planning within the PMO Leadership team. They directly manage project managers, supporting their performance, development, and delivery success. They conduct project reviews and quality checks to ensure alignment with PMO standards. They assist in aligning projects with organizational priorities and strategic goals. They ensure effective PMO resource allocation based on business needs. They foster collaboration and secure stakeholder buy-in from technology partners and business partners. They oversee resource planning (people, timelines, budgets) at the project level and help resolve conflicts.
Responsibilities
- Leads coaching and mentoring of project managers to build capabilities and promote best practices.
- Sets up a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
- Provides tactical leadership and contributes to PMO operational planning within the PMO Leadership team.
- Directly manages project managers, supporting their performance, development, and delivery success.
- Conducts project reviews and quality checks to ensure alignment with PMO standards.
- Assists in aligning projects with organizational priorities and strategic goals.
- Ensures effective PMO resource allocation based on business needs.
- Fosters collaboration and secure stakeholder buy-in from technology partners and business partners.
- Oversees resource planning (people, timelines, budgets) at the project level and helps resolve conflicts.
- Contributes to development and maintenance of PMO methodologies, templates, and tools.
- Supports implementation and adoption of PMO-related technologies and systems.
- Participates in PMO and organizational programs (e.g., communities of practice, training initiatives).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience.
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, demonstrating expertise in project management methodologies preferred, equivalent experience accepted.
- Minimum 5 years of project management or like experience.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
