About the role

The Behavioral Health Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide mental health services to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. This role will work independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals.

Responsibilities

• Conducting health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
• Prescribing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating psychopharmacological medications.
• Providing integrated mental health services in general health settings.
• Collaborating with psychiatrists, seeking consultation when necessary, and referring patients to other providers when necessary.
• Collaborating within the interdisciplinary team to promote behavioral health services on the continuum of care.

Requirements

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited institution with a specialty focus in mental health.
• Licensure/Certifications: Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Psychiatry Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ).
• Current certification in CPR.
• National certification in applicable area.
• Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.

• Prominent ability to build effective working relationships and use tact, discretion, and diplomacy when working with others.
• Ability to stay calm and focused in an environment of multiple demands and use good judgment in emergency situations.
• Keyboard skills and basic computer skills.

Skills

• Advanced health assessment (physical and mental health).
• Pathophysiology (neurophysiology/biophysiology).
• Pharmacology and/or psychopharmacology.
• Diagnosis and medication management of psychiatric illness.
