About the role
A Plumbing & Mechanical Technician assembles, installs, and finishes components for custom trailers, specialty vehicles, and mobile structures. While plumbing skills are used to install and troubleshoot water systems, fixtures, piping, and related components, the role primarily supports the overall construction and assembly of custom trailers. The position involves mechanical assembly, component installation, system integration, material preparation, and assisting with various production activities. The work environment is dynamic, requiring adaptability and a willingness to contribute across multiple areas of the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies, OSHA standards, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Utilize plumbing skills to install, connect, test, and troubleshoot plumbing systems within custom trailers and specialty vehicles.
- Install water lines, drains, fixtures, pumps, tanks, valves, fittings, and related components according to drawings and specifications.
- Perform mechanical assembly and installation of components used in custom trailer construction.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Measure, cut, fit, and assemble materials and components using appropriate hand tools and power tools.
- Assist with the installation and integration of various trailer systems and components.
- Support fabrication, assembly, and finishing activities required to complete custom builds.
- Identify and communicate installation challenges, material concerns, and potential quality issues to Team Leads and Supervisors.
- Inspect completed work to ensure proper fit, function, quality, and customer requirements are met.
- Collaborate with electricians, fabricators, welders, engineers, and other production team members to complete projects.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Assist with material handling, loading, unloading, and movement of components throughout the facility.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production needs and customer commitments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in plumbing, mechanical assembly, construction, maintenance, manufacturing, or a related skilled trade.
- Experience with plumbing systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and assemble complex systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and technical work instructions.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment.
