Typical Duties
- Conduct on the job plumbing and gas inspections of assigned new and remodeled sites and structures.
- Review plans and specifications, materials, layouts and equipment.
- Perform inspections of construction projects for compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
- Inform, explain and interpret plumbing and gas code requirements for project superintendents and/or foremen, plumbing contractors, architects, engineers, and the public.
- Provide uniform conformance to plumbing and gas codes, standards and regulations.
- Refer difficult or questionable situations to supervisor.
- Investigate and respond to complaints regarding illegal construction, safety or hazardous conditions.
- Issue and post stop orders, corrective actions or citations depending on the situation.
- Testify in court and before City boards and Commissions, as required.
- Enforce building and municipal codes.

Education and Experience
- A High School diploma or GED, or higher, and two (2) years of journey level, master, or supervisory plumbing experience.
Licenses and Certificates
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber's License required at time of appointment.
- International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification required within six (6) months of appointment.
- Plumbing Inspector License from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners required within six (6) months of appointment.
- Submission of application to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners required within one (1) month of appointment.

Qualifications
- Select your level of education.
- Select the number of years you possess of journey level, master, or supervisory plumbing experience.
- Do you have a valid USA driver's license? If so, what type of driver's license do you have?
- Journeyman or Master Plumber's License is required at time of appointment. Do you have or will you have this license by time of appointment?
- Select your level of knowledge of the principles, methods and materials of potable water, wastewater, and sewage lines, gas pipeline and installation of gas fixtures/appliances requiring venting sewage or gas storage and distribution.
- Select your level of knowledge of national, state and local regulations and professional standards related to plumbing and gas construction codes.
- Have you had your diploma, transcripts, degree or other required documents translated and evaluated by an agency of NACES?
