Plumbing Estimator - Commercial Construction

About the role

The Estimator III at Corvant is responsible for preparing detailed estimates for construction projects. This includes gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents, identifying labor, material, and time requirements, and resolving all pricing options.

Responsibilities

• Resolve all pricing options and target the appropriate price for the project
• Identify areas for training with estimators and interns
• Gather information from local government and private entities that may affect the project (i.e., permits, hearings, etc.)
• Aid in leading the addendum log and documents from customers/clients
• Complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials
• Solicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates, and time projections for preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets
• Aid in data input into estimating software programs
• Build Project Estimates
• Prepare, organize, and coordinate Request for Proposal documents
• Prepare and coordinate schedules, utilizing schedule information to estimate General Contractor’s and other scheduled items
• Participate in plan and estimate review meetings, other project review meetings, and site investigations, as needed
• Solicit new bidders when needed and obtain necessary documents for inclusion in future projects
• Capture historical cost data and perform archive filing
• Aids in providing details for order entry, drafting, production, and layout of orders received
• Corresponds and contacts sales reps to obtain missing info, recommends a change or substitution to improve cost, delivery, or product
• Interprets customer requirements and prepares and revises quotations based upon takeoffs, emails, and specifications
• Interacts with sales reps and internal personnel to provide accurate bidding
• Works from emails, takeoffs, drawings, bid forms, verbal and written requests to prepare quotes

Requirements

• Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Ability to break down construction operations into a logical sequence of activities.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to professionally communicate the basis for individual work product when in a highly fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be willing to travel as needed.
• Candidates must possess a strong work ethic.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED Required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Administration preferred.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of estimating experience preferred.
