Estimator - Commercial Plumbing

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for commercial plumbing projects from initial plan review through final proposal submission. The ideal candidate has strong commercial plumbing knowledge, can independently perform detailed takeoffs and cost estimates, and understands how labor, material, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and project scope come together to produce a profitable bid. Candidates with strong estimating experience using Trimble AutoBid or comparable estimating/takeoff software are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Perform complete quantity takeoffs from commercial construction plans and specifications.Estimate plumbing scopes including sanitary, storm, domestic water, gas, fixtures, equipment, and related systems.Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to identify scope requirements, exclusions, discrepancies, and potential risks.Develop detailed estimates for material, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers, vendors, and specialty subcontractors.Develop realistic labor budgets using appropriate labor rates, crew compositions, and productivity factors.Prepare clear and competitive proposals and bid packages while meeting strict bid deadlines.Participate in bid-day pricing, scope review, and final markup decisions.Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, vendors, and other internal teams throughout the estimating process.Provide organized estimate breakdowns and scope summaries for awarded projects during the handoff to operations.Track bid results and project performance to improve estimating assumptions, productivity factors, and future bids.Identify value-engineering opportunities and potential cost or scope issues before bid submission. Ideal Candidate The Ideal Candidate Will Have 5+ years of commercial plumbing experience, with approximately 7 years being an ideal background.Strong commercial plumbing estimating experience, preferably through the full estimating cycle from takeoff through bid submission.Strong ability to read and interpret commercial construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.In-depth understanding of commercial plumbing systems, materials, installation methods, and applicable codes.Experience performing detailed plumbing takeoffs and developing labor and material pricing.Experience working with estimating/takeoff software such as Trimble AutoBid, Accubid, QuoteSoft, FastPIPE, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar platforms.Strong Excel and general computer skills.Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project managers, field teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors.A practical understanding of how commercial plumbing work is actually installed in the field. Field-to-estimating candidates are welcome. A strong commercial plumbing professional with significant field experience who has successfully transitioned into estimating may also be considered.
