Plumbing Designer
About the role
A consulting engineering firm in Dayton, Ohio is seeking a Plumbing Designer to join their integrated MEP engineering team. This role focuses on designing domestic water, sanitary, storm, and related plumbing systems for commercial and institutional building projects.
Responsibilities
- Design plumbing systems including domestic water distribution, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, and specialty plumbing systems.
- Prepare plumbing drawings, layouts, riser diagrams, and details for complete MEP construction document sets.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineers to develop coordinated construction documents and support projects from early design through construction.
- Coordinate plumbing designs with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
- Assist with plumbing code research and ensure compliance with local and national standards.
- Respond to plan review comments, RFIs, and design revisions during construction.
- Participate in internal coordination meetings and maintain clear communication across project teams.
Requirements
- Experience designing plumbing systems within an MEP consulting engineering environment.
- Working knowledge of commercial building plumbing systems, including domestic water.
- Proficiency with Revit.
- Understanding of applicable plumbing codes and standards.
- Ability to produce accurate, well-coordinated construction documents.
- Strong attention to detail and effective collaboration in a team setting.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience supporting commercial, institutional, or renovation projects.
- Familiarity with multi-discipline coordination in an MEP firm.
- Interest in long-term growth within the MEP consulting engineering field.
Skills
- Strong technical skills in plumbing design and coordination.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in Revit and other MEP software.
- Knowledge of relevant plumbing codes and standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65,000.00 - $85,000.00/yr. PTO, 401K, Health, Vision, Dental.
Work Environment
The position is on-site, requiring attendance five days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
