About the Role

The Sr Plumber/Steamfitter leads a variety of maintenance repairs and installation/replacement of plumbing systems and fixtures, including supply systems, DWV systems, plumbing, heating, and steam fixtures/equipment. Assists in the work direction of other mechanics, trades helpers, and mechanics of other skilled trades.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, repairs, and installs pipe systems, plumbing fixtures, heating fixtures, steam fixtures, regulator valves, and various system elements/appliances.
• Responds to plumbing trouble calls and requests within the facilities, using hand tools, pneumatic and/or hydraulic power tools, analyzing equipment, and testing instruments.
• Performs routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and inspections on plumbing systems equipment and related systems.
• Installs, repairs, and/or maintains water, gas, oil, waste disposal, high-pressure steam, and high-temperature hot water systems.
• Prepares, maintains, and submits requisitions for material, work orders, required records, and reports relating to plumbing equipment/systems to the Supervisor, Maintenance and Construction.

Requirements

• Technical school diploma or equivalent level of knowledge plus five (5) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems/equipment in an educational, industrial, or healthcare setting.
• Sound knowledge of blueprint and schematic reading.
• Thorough knowledge of all applicable (local, state, and national) codes.
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime.

Qualifications

Preferred: New Jersey Black Seal Engineer’s License.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $32.12/hr - $33.60/hr. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. Final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
