Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Experience: Four years of experience working as a plumber and possession of a Journey level or higher Plumber License issued by the Maryland State Board of Plumbing.

Requirements

  • Additional work experience in the skilled trade of plumbing may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  • A certificate from a vocational-technical school with a major in plumbing may be substituted for one year of the required general experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in the skilled trades as defined above field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Candidates appointed to positions in this classification are assigned duties that require the operation of motor vehicles. Employees are required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
