Plumber
About the role
A leading commercial and industrial mechanical contractor in the Southeast is seeking an experienced Traveling Plumbing Superintendent to lead large-scale construction projects across North Carolina and South Carolina.
This organization specializes in complex healthcare, institutional, and large commercial projects and is known for strong safety culture, operational excellence, and long-term career growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of plumbing installation (domestic water, sanitary, storm systems)
- Supervise and coordinate field teams including foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and subcontractors
- Conduct daily huddles and manage short-term and long-range planning (look-aheads)
- Cook with general contractors, inspectors, engineers, and trade partners
- Interpret drawings, specs, RFIs, and applicable codes
- Track manpower, materials, equipment, and deliveries
- Maintain accurate field documentation and reporting
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements and healthcare standards
- Act as on-site Competent Person
- Enforce OSHA and company safety policies
- Lead safety meetings, JHAs, and site audits
- Maintain accurate and timely safety documentation
- Drive accountability, productivity, and craftsmanship
- Support workforce development and succession planning
Requirements
- 10+ years of plumbing experience
- 5+ years in a supervisory/foreman or superintendent role
- Proven experience managing large-scale commercial or industrial projects ($5M–$10M+)
- Strong experience in healthcare construction (hospitals, medical facilities)
- Solid knowledge of plumbing systems, installation methods, and codes
- Strong leadership, communication, and scheduling skills
- OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel extensively
Qualifications
- Required:
- - 10+ years of plumbing experience
- - 5+ years in a supervisory/foreman or superintendent role

- Preferred:
- - Journeyman license or equivalent experience
- - Additional safety certifications (First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Confined Space, etc.)
- - High school diploma or GED
Work Environment
- Projects located throughout NC & SC
- Significant travel and overnight stays required
- Availability outside standard hours as needed for project support
