About the role

A Maintenance Plumber II in the Facilities Management department performs plumbing repairs and maintenance, troubleshoots issues, and ensures compliance with applicable standards and codes. This role may also involve other maintenance tasks and collaboration with facility managers and maintenance staff.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains plumbing systems and components in the hospital facility.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots plumbing issues and implements appropriate solutions.
  • Ensures all plumbing work is performed in compliance with applicable standards, codes, and requirements.
  • Works independently to accomplish projects or assigned work.
  • Collaborates with facility managers, maintenance staff, and other team members to improve the operation of facility equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of all plumbing work performed.
  • Demonstrates competency to perform work on routine to moderately complex systems.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated abilities in plumbing of liquids and gases.
  • Formal training in plumbing, such as completion of an apprenticeship program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in plumbing systems, maintenance, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and reading blueprints.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand plumbing and architectural drawings and plans.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with customers requiring clear communication and quick understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment, including heavy items.
  • Work on hands and knees, bend, stoop, crawl, lay, sit, walk, climb, and use hand and power tools.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, noisy or constricted spaces, and odors.
  • For roles requiring driving: ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • On-call responsibilities

Pay

Hourly rate: $28.93 – $44.02, dependent upon experience.
