Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor plumbing repairs and maintenance requiring a State of Michigan Plumbers license
- Complete general maintenance tasks including light fixture maintenance, ballast replacement, and office furniture repairs
- Install and maintain office fixtures including pictures, keyboard trays, and furniture systems
- Assist with grounds maintenance and minor landscaping repairs
- Execute special assignments including painting, locksmith work, tenant service requests, and specialized cleaning
- Relocate office furniture, equipment, and materials as needed
- Support other operational staff in equipment repair and maintenance activities
- Maintain and organize accurate records of completed work
- Perform Maximo data entry and set up maintenance routes
- Follow safety protocols for handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials
- Attend required safety training and adhere to all safety policies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Required Qualifications
- Valid State of Michigan Plumbers license
- Must be a current union member or willing to join the union
- Demonstrated experience in general facilities maintenance and repair
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in various environments including outdoors, mechanical rooms, and potentially extreme weather conditions
- Willingness to work with exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, and electrical systems
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Customer service orientation and effective communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, use hands, and communicate verbally
- Frequently required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and high voltage
- Frequent exposure to wet conditions, heights, airborne particles, and weather elements
- Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and vibration
