Plumber

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain and inspect plumbing systems and fixtures
• Diagnose, repair and/or replace sump and circulating pumps
• Solder, pro press, PEX, thread pipe and PVC piping repair and/or replacement
• Auxiliary in project management and contracted services
• Operate within an automated work order system for material management, time usage, and timely response to the customer
• Transport materials, tools and equipment to and from the work site
• Remove snow and ice from stairs, walks and ramps including shoveling, plowing and salting
• Follow and comply with OHSA rules and regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school graduate (diploma/GED) required
• State of Wisconsin Journeyman Plumber License required
• Master Plumber preferred
• Minimum three years experience as a Service Plumber
• Skilled in the use of mathematics and the ability to read blueprints
• Knowledge of applicable Wisconsin plumbing codes
• Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of job, including heavy lifting

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment

Other Requirements

• Valid Wisconsin motor vehicle license and be insurable under the university's insurance plan
• Work in cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions
• Work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Shift changes and/or weekend work may be required by your supervisor based on departmental and University needs
• Low Pressure Boiler License and Cross Connection Control License preferred or willingness to obtain one
