The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is seeking a Plumber 1 to support vital maintenance work that keeps bathrooms, kitchens, and water systems in strong working order. Your work will help ensure the safety and readiness of the facility at Fort Indiantown Gap.
About the role
This role focuses on maintaining and installing plumbing systems to support safe facilities and dependable operations for staff and residents.
Responsibilities
- Install and repair bathroom and kitchen fixtures such as faucets, showers, commodes, and sinks
- Fix or replace faucets, pipes, and flush controls
- Fabricate pipes and fittings by bending, cutting, reaming, threading, and welding
- Perform soldering tasks, including cutting, cleaning, threading, and soldering pipes
- Prepare detailed material lists and ensure unused materials are returned to stock
- Maintain tools and equipment through cleaning, oiling, adjusting, and preventive care
Requirements
- Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or an equivalent combination of experience and training
- Possession of an active motor vehicle license
- Must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap
- Ability to perform essential job functions
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Class E (Water) Certification
- Completion of formal training in the plumbing trade
- Previous experience as a plumber
- Experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of water main breaks, and the sanitizing of water mains due to main breaks
- Experience in the maintenance, repair, or replacement of underground water mains or sewage lines
- Experience in the installation or connection of service lines to water or sewage mains
- Experience working in hazardous conditions such as confined space, electrical currents, or chemical exposure
Schedule
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
